The Seeds for Nurses initiative represents a partnership between this magazine and distribu-tion agency Gold Key Media, which is giving 90,000 packets of seeds to NHS workers to sow this spring.
Seeds for Nurses is part of Project Wingman, set up in April 2020 in response to the global Covid-19 pandemic. Special ‘First Class Lounges’ staffed by professional aircrew volunteers, have been created in hospitals across the UK, to provide a place for key workers to relax during breaks from the frontline. A mobile bus (above) has also been refurbished for the task.
The project has been supported by a range of Gold Key Media clients including Bauer maga-zines – publishers of Garden Answers. Together with our sister titles we have donated more than £3.5 million-worth of magazines, snacks and beauty products – as well as flower seeds.
“Sowing seeds in spring is such a positive, therapeutic experience,” says Chris Horn of Gold Key Media. “If this initiative helps some of our amazing NHS nurses and other workers who are battling away daily on the frontline to feel positive and good about the future, that would be a perfect result.” www.projectwingman.co.uk
